Ideal conditions for great wines

The weathered volcanic soils of the Kaiserstuhl which are partly covered in fertile loess paired with the favourable climate of Germany’s warmest and sunniest wine region create ideal conditions to grow quality red and white wines.  The loess-dominated soils give fruity, fresh wines, the wines grown on volcanic soils are characterised by more minerality and elegance, amongst them are of course the great Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) but also fine white wines with good ageing potential.
