Description

The Chateau is the northernmost within the Saint-Estephe appelation and belongs to the Capbern-Gasqueton family but throughout the 18th century the Chateau was watched over by Nicolas-Alexandre de Segur. The Chateau was classified as a Troisieme Grand Cru Classe in 1855 and grows its vines on the stony soil which allows water to drain perfectly.

Description

The Chateau is situated in the southern part of St. Estephe where, in the aftermath of the French Revolution, the estate was divided into Chateau´s Cos D´Estournel and Cos Labory which were classified separately in 1855. Since 1958 the renowned Chateau has been owned by the Audoy family. The vines are planted on gravelly soil as well as on 3 hectars of the famous Chateau Lafite-Rothschild.

Description

In 1820 the first thing to be constructed was the manison, today´s Chateau, which from 1896 until 2006 belonged to the Charmolüe family when it was old to the brothers Olivier and Martin Bouyges. The Chateau´s name is said to derive from the heather that used to cover the fields (mont rose - rose coloured mountain). The vines grow on gravel and sand soils on the shore of the Gironde river.

Description

The history of this Chateau can be traced back to 1557 and spans many owners. The last owners, befor the 1960 sale to the Tesseron family, were at a point where they could hardly achieve any yields. Only as of 1966 have there again been meaningful quantities which over the years have improved immensely in quality. The mesoclimate is strongly influenced by the Gironde river. The vines are planted on clay and loam and Chateau´s Lafite-Rothschild and Cos D´Estournel can be seen from the vineyard.

The Chateau was finished in 1792. In 1930 it was sold to Jean Charles Cazes who bequeathed it to his son who runs the estate today. Until 1981 the wines were made in the cellars of Chateau Lynch Bages when complete renovation meant that wine could once again be made at Les Ormes de Pez.

Description

The story starts in 1810 when Clos de Garramey and Chateau Phelan Segur were united under the auspices of Frank Phelan who was or Irish origin and bought the estates from the famous Marquis Segur. The estate was then bought by Xavier Gardinier in 1985 to whom the Champagne brands Pommery and Lanson also belonged. 2003 proved to be a successful year in which Phelan Segur was classified as Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel.
