Sylvie Garcin Cathiard acquired the estate in 1996, renovated completely re-started wine production to once again mirror the varying terroirs of gravel and clay in her wines. In 1956 the Chateau and its vineyards were bought by the Perrin family. The severe winter frosts with temperatures well below -20°C forced them to replant completely in 1957. Their first vintage was berought to market in 1962. The entire wine production was completely overhauled in 1990 which proved to be very successful for the wine. For more than 200 years it was in the possession of Carmelite monks who also coined the name of the estate. It became public property in 1791 after the dissolution of monasteries during the French Revolution. At the beginning of the 19th century Leon Collin purchased the estate which is still owned by his direct descendants. Penelope Furt has been the diorector since 2005 and keeps her watch over the vineyards which are composed mainly of sand, gravel and clay, as well as over the vinification for which oenologist Stephane Derenoncourt is responsible.
