Description

The Chateau dates back to the early 14th century was classified as a Cinquieme Grand Cru Classe in 1855. Baron Philippe de Rothschild bought the Chateau in 1933 which had to live through a number of name changes. After the death of her father in 1989, Baronness Philippine de Rothschild gave the estate once again its original name.

Description

The Chateau´s name goes back to a hamlet in the vicinity of the Gironde river. The vines are planted on gravel and limestone.

Description

The name "Duhart" goes back to a family who once owned the Chateau, and "Milon" to a hamlet close by. This Chateau is one of the very few classified estates that do not possess a mansion. Taken over in 1962, this estate now also belongs to the Rothschild. Christophe Couge is responsible for the vinification.

Description

The Chateau has had its name since the 17th century but wine had been made here for much longer under a different name. The Borie family acquired the estate in 1987 and son Francois Xavier Borie has been owner and winemaker since 2003. The estate is situated in the north of the Paulliac commune and the vines grow on classic gravel and limestone soils.

Description

The first documented mention of the Lafite name was in 1234 via an abbot at the Vertheuil abbey in the north of the Paulliac appellation called Gombaud de Lafite. The Chateau itself was first mentioned in the 14th century. The Segur family structured the land and planted the first Lafite vineyards from 1670-1680. Baron Eric de Rothschild took the Chateau over in the 1970s and brought it to fame. The soils are composed of gravel, sand and limestone. The estate is run by Charles Chevallier.

Description

The Chateau Latour "en Saint Maubert" was first mentioned in 1378. In the following years it was renamed twice into La Tour and then again Latour. In 1963 heirs of the Marquis de Segur purchased 75% of holdings, renovated the Chateau and replanted vineyards. Until 1993 a large number of shares were British-owned but these were bought Francois Pinault and the estate reverted to French ownership.

Description

Chateau Lynch Bages is situated just outside the village of Paulliac and got its name from the suburb Bages. In 1728 the estate passed to the Chevalier Pierre Drouillard family whose daugther Elisabeth took over after the death of her father in 1749. She herself was married to Thomas Lynch which explains how the Chateau attained its full name. In 1930 the Cazes family took over both Chateau and vineyards which are situated in the north and south of the Paulliac appellation. The soils are mainly composed of gravel, sand and clay.

This is one of the world´s most famous Chateaux and is situated in the northern part of the Paulliac appelation. It was initially classified as Deuxieme Grand Cru Classe in 1855, however, in 1973 the ministry of agriculture re-classified the estate as a Premier Cru Classe. The Chateau has always been owned by the Rothschild baking dynasty. The vineyards have an up to 8 meter thick gravel layer on a calcareous subsoil.

Description

In 1660 Pierre de Mazure de Rauzan bought the Chateau and the vineyards. In 1694 his daughter married Jacques de Pichon, Baron de Longueville. The division of this estate about 180 years ago created the both Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron and Chateau Pichon Longueville which was later renamed to Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. In 1926 the de Lencquesaing family bought the Chateau whose owner had the nick name "General". In 2006 the majority of shares were sold to the Champagne house Roederer.
