She herself was married to Thomas Lynch which explains how the Chateau attained its full name. In 1930 the Cazes family took over both Chateau and vineyards which are situated in the north and south of the Paulliac appellation. The soils are mainly composed of gravel, sand and clay. The division of this estate about 180 years ago created the both Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron and Chateau Pichon Longueville which was later renamed to Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. In 1926 the de Lencquesaing family bought the Chateau whose owner had the nick name "General". In 2006 the majority of shares were sold to the Champagne house Roederer.
